I recently crashed my car which was at no ones fault but my own. I was reversing in the underground carpark of my apartment building and backed, quite forcefully, into a stationary concrete pillar. Luckily, no one was injured (except for my insurance premium), but the back bumper and car boot door of my vehicle were completely smashed in and I felt so stupid when it happened. I often overanalyze bad luck situations like this into thinking they are signs from the universe. For starters, "slow down when reversing" would be a logical one! But a more meaningful one would be "don't be in a rush to do everything at once." I really feel as though I have tried to embody these statements after my recent accident and would like to share the following excerpt from Less is More by Domonique Bertolucci with you dear readers, in the hopes of helping you de-stress your lives a little...
1. Learn to say "no" - and say it a lot. Don't make commitments you don't want to keep or agree with things you don't believe in.
2. Don't worry about what anyone else does or has. Everyone is on a different journey; the only one that matters is yours.
3. Dump your to-do list. Stop worrying about what you should be doing or kicking yourself for things you should have done. Do the things that matter and do them now.
4. Eat healthy food in abundance and indulgent food in moderation. Treat your body like the high-performance machine it is.
5. Spend time with the people you love. At the end of your life, it won't matter if you earned a lot of money or were a size eight. What will matter is that you lived a life filled with love, laughter and joy.
Happy destressing, Ladies!
